As some of my followers already know, I regularly integrate comics and comics fandom into my academic research. Next month, I’ll be presenting a paper on female comics fans’ responses to DC’s New 52 at Going Underground?: Gender and Subcultures at Northumbria University.
As a fun supplement to the responses I’ve already collected, I’ve created a survey in which female fans can express their views on the New 52. Questions provide opportunities for readers to talk about writing, art, character absence and changes, and other elements of the New 52. Ranting about what you like and/or don’t like is welcome.
Since I have a free account on the survey site, I only get so many responses before the survey closes. However, if the survey fills up and closes before everyone who wants to participate gets a chance to weigh in, please let me know and I will copy it as a new survey to allow you to respond.
I’d love to hear from as many female readers as possible, so if you’re interested, please consider filling out the survey.
(A quick note: by ‘female’ readers, I mean readers who identify as female, so trans* readers identifying as female are welcome to respond.)
Now I’m going to go tag everything so this gets out there. I’m also tagging characters whose fans might particularly be interested in addressing some of these issues.
EDIT: The old link is filling up sooo quickly, so I’ve copied the survey over a few times. Here are the links to the new versions; each one is the same, so you can just pick whichever link takes your fancy. I’ll be updating this post if I need to create more.
