From Batman Chronicles #8 “The Prison”
As a Talia Roleplayer and ardent Al Ghul fan, sometimes I forget just how much of an evil bastard Ra’s really is. Everything “wrong” with Talia is his fault, really. I think of her, and who she could have been independent of Ra’s - she’s a feeling, fiercely loving and dedicated individual. This story really gave a image into Talia’s head and how intense the struggle between her two great loves are. She loves her father, yes, but it’s this Stockholm Syndrome type of love. And I have the reevaluate whether or not Ra’s loves Talia at all as a father should. I think because Talia is convinced he loves her, I tend to think that through her. But it’s not a healthy relationship by any stretch of the imagination. Ugh. Hi Talia feels.
I cannot recommend this story enough, especially to people who are new to Talia. It’s also collected in “The Strange Deaths of Batman” if anyone’s curious.
